Large Wooden Statue of "CaiSen," Chinese God of Wealth. Trace of gilt and lacquer over dark black wood body. Depicted Chinese God of Wealth (CaiSen Ye), showing serene face, holding Golden Tael on Right hand, and a Ruyi Scepter on Left hand to the shoulder, in seated position. God of Wealth also called "ChaiSen", and honored as the ancestor of all Lins by King Wu of Zhou. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Chen YueQuan, born 1906. An Indonesian Chinese Immigrant, Prominent businessman and private Asian antiques collector in East java. Also well known as “Eyeglasses Old Man”. During 1950 he was one of the wealthiest in the family from ChensClan in Java. He supported the 5th renovation of Sam Poo Kong Temple Complex, the oldest Buddhist and Taoist Temple in Semarang, Indonesia.During the Indonesian Revolution Riot in 1998 many Chinese fled the country, including some of Mr. Chen’s Family.
