English Georgian period carved oak chest of drawers, late 18th/ early 19th c., having rectangular top, two short drawers over three long drawers, heavily carved with scenes from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, carvings are possibly later additions, including the creation of Eve, Adam and Eve with the tree of knowledge of good and evil, Cain slaying Abel, Noah sending the dove from the ark, the sacrifice of Isaac, Moses with the tablets, David and Goliath, Elijah in the wilderness, the Annunciation, the Nativity, the flight into Egypt, Christ as good shepherd, the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, Christ on the Mount of Olives, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection, all flanked by columnar corner posts with brass capitals, on ogee bracket feet, approx 50.5"h, 60"w, 21.75"d **Provenance: an important Austin, Texas collection**
