Item Details
Description
A c.1960 Silvertone 1446 hollow body electric guitar in black finish, serial #5035, owned and played by Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist.

The Silvertone 1446 is widely known as “The Chris Isaak model” thanks to his use of and association with the guitar early on in his career, holding it in advertisements and even going so far as to name his debut album “Silvertone.”

Randy enjoys the association and comments, “Those pickups are just incredible.” He’s not wrong! Only available on the Silvertone 1446, the Seth Lover designed Gibson mini-humbuckers use a distinctive 3x3 screw pole piece pattern which pokes out from beneath the chrome covers.

Lover, famous for designing Gibson’s PAF humbucking pickup in 1955, would go on to use the same styling motif on Fender’s Wide Range humbucker found on 1970s Telecasters and Starcasters. The 3x3 mini-humbuckers are raw, clear, and formidable.

The guitar itself is in excellent and complete condition for its age and in very good playing condition. The black finish has aged remarkably well, and it retains its original white plastic pickguard, cupcake knobs, pickup surrounds, and switch plate. 20 frets on a bound and dyed maple fingerboard with small celluloid block inlays, 3x3 headstock design with a metal Silvertone logo, and a truss rod cover marked “LCJ/LCE” presumably by a former owner. Bigsby B3 vibrato with original ebony/rosewood bridge.

Includes original chipboard case with a black and white exterior and a red interior.
