Lowndes H. Davis (1836 - 1920), Huntsville, AL. Walking Stick. The stick has an engraved silver cap and band. The cap reads "Wood from the door of Morro Castle, Santiago, Cuba. Steel from a fragment of shell shot from U.S Battle Ship". The silver band is engraved " Lowndes H. Davis, Huntsville Alabama". Lowndes Henry Davis was an American politician who served the State of Missouri in The U.U. House of Representatives from 1879 - 1885. Davis was an attorney, Yale graduate, member of The Skull and Bones and a staunch Unionist during the Civil War. In his later life he farmed in the Huntsville, Alabama area. Davis is buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama. . Condition - This stick is in overall very good condition with one small dent in the top and a dents and small holes in the silver band, in the word Alabama. The stick measures 35 inches long.
