A Great War pair of medals to a Driver in the Royal Field Artillery who was discharged due to illness following 2 years’ service in Salonica. British War and Victory medal,”855279 DVR. W. SIMMONDS. R.A.” William Simmonds from Sandown on the Isle of Wight attested for the 2/2nd Wessex Royal Field Artillery on 22nd May 1916. He served for 2 years and 55 days in Salonica and was discharged unfit for further service due to sickness on 9th April 1919 and was issued Silver War Badge.
