Post-Revolutionary War to Civil War
1833 U.S. Navy Letter Regarding Clothing for the Navy
December 19, 1833, Official Letter Regarding Clothing for the U.S. Navy, Fine.
This original letter is directed to Mitchell & Bulfinch of Boston, advising them that the U.S. Navy has rejected their offer to supply the Navy with clothing made of cotton rather than wool. The letter appears to be signed, "Huttiner Wobe," but a pencil notation at the bottom suggests this may be Commodore Movus. This letter is complete, lightly toned, and appears to have been burned slightly along the lower right edge. Otherwise a nice, early U.S. Navy document.
Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
