American Revolution
1791 Dated Decorated Scrimshawn PowderHorn "I. Hart"

Dated "1791", Ornate Decorated Scrimshaw PowderHorn of "I. Hart" (likely PA.), Choice Very Fine.
This original and fully authentic "1791" dated Scrimshaw PowderHorn is named with its owner "I. Hart" and nicely decorated with ornate imagery of Birds and Flowers, plus a Maltese Cross, along with several Tobacco Plants, a Dutch Tulip and a Mask at the neck. There is a pierced flange on plugged end that would accept a strap. This horn measures roughly 11.5" long overall, 2.75" in diameter at its largest point. This horn is in excellent overall condition, with authentic expected wear, received from light actual use. Though without documentation, this piece is said to have come from a Lehigh County, Pennsylvania collection. An impressive, named and dated ornately decorated Scrimshaw PowderHorn that is certainly of museum quality.

Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
