Miguel Covarrubias 1904-1957 Portrait Painting
Miguel Covarrubias (Mexican, 1904-1957). "Portrait of Somerset Maugham". Watercolor. The consigner's father worked for Vanity Fair magazine in the 1920's and recieved this from Covarrubias at that time. Signed lower left "Covarrubias". Condition: Two 1/4 inch tears at left edge, one corner is dented and one has a fold line. There is a mat shadow from a previous mount. Retains a strong and vibrant color. Measures 11 1/4" x 8 1/4".
