Scarce Fisk Expedition to Montana Stereoview, mounted on yellow card stock, 3.25" x 6.75", from series Crossing The Plains To Montana, with Capt. Fisk's Expedition, 1866 titled 241. Bluffs near Fort Berthold. (1). With backstamp W.D. Fenno & Son, Dealers in Watches, Jewelry, Silverware & Fancy Goods. Worcester, Mass.. Features a wagon train traveling across Montana's rugged landscape.

Captain James L. Fisk was a tough frontiersman and capable leader who was in charge of four expeditions into Montana. This image documents Fisk's Second Expedition, of 1866, when he led a party of miners and settlers to Helena. Almost certainly, the photograph was produced by William Henry Illingworth, the expedition photographer. The photographs taken on the Fisk Expedition were never widely distributed, and are quite rare.

Condition report
